About

Hello, I’m Michaela Kluever, a physics graduate, and since 2004 I’ve been traveling throughout Europe with “Highlight Tours Photo Tours“. I’ve now settled in Sardinia and lead various photography workshops on a freelance and volunteer basis. Influenced by my previous work in nature and environmental conservation, I value a respectful approach to photographing subjects in nature. Therefore, for me, a photography course includes not only the technical and compositional basics of photography, but also background information about the landscape, plants, animals, and their habitats.

Über mich: Fotosituationen, bei denen es abenteuerlich wird, sind mir am liebsten

I am a member of Nature First  and support the seven principles of this alliance for responsible nature photography:

  • Prioritize the well-being of nature over photography.
  • Educate yourself about the places you photograph.
  • Reflect on the possible impact of your actions.
  • Use discretion if sharing locations.
  • Know and follow rules and regulations.
  • Always follow Leave No Trace principles and strive to leave places better than you found them.
  • Actively promote and educate others about these principles.

I find it more satisfying to bring home photos from a place I’ve developed a personal connection to, rather than photographing what everyone else is photographing at a tourist hotspot. My favorite photos are the ones that tell stories—about nature and local life. Photos that look beyond the obvious.
